I started this blog to be a sort of online portfolio for future employers, as graduation is looming. This was to be a place where I would show off my mad skills in following all the tips and tricks sites like ProBlogger and its ilk insisted made for good content and good business. And I’m sure they do. But it’s not me.
It really isn’t me.
Now, dear potential employers, I’m not saying that I can’t do those sorts of posts, but I feel they lack personality. Most such posts are, frankly, boring, and though I subscribe to a good number of blogs that abide by such ‘rules,’ I rarely actually read them.
The blogs I enjoy reading are the ones brimming with personality. They are the ones that make me feel like I might actually know the person behind the blog. And yet they are able to convey meaning at the same time. The personal touch, if you will, makes all the difference.
